When the summer sun continues to beat down in the valley, Phoenix natives know they can get away by heading just a few hours north to beautiful Sedona, Arizona. With incredible red rock mountains as the backdrop, people from around the world find refuge in Sedona for it’s great weather, incredible scenery, and some of the best homegrown food and drinks.
One of the most popular destinations for travelers is the Oak Creek Brewing Company because of it’s great atmosphere and award-winning brews. Right off highway 89A, OCBC is home to six incredible beers that are a cut above your standard local brewery.
Winner of both the Gold and Bronze Medal in the North American Brewers’ Association competition, our favorite Oak Creek Brewing Co. original is the Nut Brown Ale. A little nutty, a little spicy, this beer is a top pick because of it’s smoothness and gentle bitterness.
Another great pick is the Oak Creek Hefeweizen. Winner of the Gold Medal at the 22nd annual Great American Beer Fest, this Hef is a staple of the brewery. Made with up to 50% wheat malt instead of the traditional malted barley gives this beer a lighter note while still maintaining a deep gold color.
The Oak Creek Brewing Co. is also a great place for locals and out-of-towners alike to come relax with a beer on the back patio and listen to some of Sedona’s best local musicians. With shows and performances almost every night of the week, OCBC has been a destination for groups of friends, families and even pets to come and hang out with some great tunes and some great brews!
