It doesn’t matter what time of year it is, there is one thing beer drinkers can always agree upon: shower beers are pretty much the best thing ever. When you come home from a long day at work or running errands or doing whatever it is you may be doing all day, there is simply nothing better than popping open a nice cold brew and hopping in a warm shower.
This is exactly what the creators of the Shakoolie were thinking when they invented the only way to comfortably drink a beer in the shower. One of the founders of Shakoolie, Phil Novara, said:
“One late night after a long work day, I took my beer into the shower to relax. But there was a problem, I had nowhere to set that beautiful beverage. I stared at my beer, stared at the wall, and stared back at my beer. Then I held my shower beer against the wall and said‘What if I could just stick this to the wall?’ That day, Shakoolie was born.”
Zach Walsh, the other brain behind the Shakoolie added:
“The shower beer is different for everyone. It could be the end to a bad day or the start to a good day. Either way, it is a point of enjoyment for anyone who partakes. That’s where Shakoolie focuses—let’s make this experience that people look forward to better and easier.”
So, I decided to buy a Shakoolie of my own to find out what all the hubub was about.
Needless to say, the Shakoolie was a hit right from the start. After a simple installation consisting of sticking the “launchpad” to the dry shower wall, I was having a smooth-sailing shower beer in no time at all. The actual koozie had a good grip and stuck to the Velcro launchpad without any problem. Amazing.
While it is recommended to only use cans with the Shakoolie, I felt daring and decided to go with a bottle of Pipeline Porter by Kona Brewing Company. I thought a little taste of Hawaii would suit well with a humid shower. Just be careful. The only thing that could ruin a shower beer is broken glass. Yikes.
With the holiday season right around the corner, I would absolutely recommend purchasing a Shakoolie for a friend or family member. They come in an assortment of colors including black, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, purple, and even pink.
Overall I have to give the Shakoolie a 10/10. Definitelyrecommend.
